Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Whitmore Lake, Michigan
Description We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join our team in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. In this long-term contract position, you will be responsible for managing accurate and timely payroll processing, with a particular focus on union and multi-state payroll operations. This is a critical onsite role in the manufacturing industry where your expertise in payroll systems and compliance will ensure smooth operations.
Responsibilities:
• Process multi-state payroll while ensuring compliance with varying tax regulations across jurisdictions.
• Manage payroll for unionized employees, including skilled construction trade unions, and handle related reporting requirements.
• Oversee payroll for employees working across multiple entities within the same workweek.
• Perform full-cycle payroll processing, including manual data entry on a weekly basis.
• Generate and submit certified payroll reports, such as prevailing wage and minority reporting.
• Administer union fringe benefits, including monthly processing and support during annual audits.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills and, preferably, Payroll 4 Construction (Foundation Accounting Software) for payroll management.
• Collaborate with accounting and HR teams to address payroll-related issues and ensure compliance.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits and reporting obligations. Requirements • A minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing, with a strong emphasis on union payroll.
• Familiarity with Foundation Accounting Software or equivalent payroll systems is highly preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of payroll regulations, compliance requirements, and tax laws.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
• Detail-oriented mindset to ensure accuracy in payroll calculations and reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to utilize advanced functions.
• Excellent communication skills to address employee inquiries and collaborate with teams.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
