Intermountain Health Registered Nurse Supervisor Inpatient Hospice in Wheat Ridge, Colorado

Job Description:

The RN Supervisor for the Collier Inpatient Hospice Unit provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for a 24‑bed inpatient hospice program, ensuring safe, compassionate, and high‑quality end‑of‑life care for patients and families. This role supports the core pillars of safety, quality, patient experience, and stewardship through strong clinical expertise, visible leadership, and collaboration with interdisciplinary hospice teams.

In this RN Clinical Supervisor role, you’ll have a visible leadership presence—coaching caregivers, shaping staffing and operations, strengthening quality and safety practices, and partnering across teams to continuously improve the patient and caregiver experience. You’ll also help drive engagement and development through thoughtful check-ins, orientation support, and ongoing training.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.

  • Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree verification required). RNs must obtain their BSNs within four (4) years of hire or promotion date. If there is an existing education agreement, that agreement will take precedence.*

  • Basic life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of clinical processes within clinical specialty.

  • Demonstrated communication skills in recommending quality, customer service, and safety measures.

  • Demonstrated track record of effectively mentoring and developing staff.

* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job’s description’s last update in June 2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution

  • Two (2) years of experience supervising clinical staff.

  • Certification in a relevant clinical specialty area

  • 3-5 years hospice experience, preferably inpatient

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)

  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$44.42 - $65.70
