We are looking for a Materials & Process Engineer to add their skills to our team supporting the development of new designs and also supporting a highly vertically integrated production environment. This is a dynamic job working across numerous engineering and manufacturing disciplines on products that range from the newest F-35 fighter aircraft, the AMRAAM missile to the Orion Spacecraft for NASA s Artemis Mission.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers missions. What You ll Do:
Work as a team member in the design of Printed Wiring Boards (PWB) for flight hardware and ground-support equipment, testing and selecting materials and processes to ensure program performance and structural requirements are met.
Develop and implement materials and processes (M&P) plans for tactical hardware, including leading efforts to qualify new materials and processes for flight usage.
Work with on-site printed circuit lab assisting in the fabrication of PWBs ranging from low-TRL prototypes to high-MRL production support, including trouble shooting PCB manufacturing challenges.
Review engineering drawings and provide feedback to designers on materials selection, producibility, and process specifications related to PWBs.
Train designers and engineers to ensure PWB design is manufacturable to industry circuit board design standards.
Represent BAE Systems Inc., Space & Mission Systems and customer organizations (e.g. manufacturing, project, systems engineering, mission assurance, production, integration and test, supply chain, etc.) in the implementation of M&P program requirements for PWBs.
Direct flow down program M&P requirements to subcontractors and vendors and verify that those requirements are met.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. Hands-on experience working in a team environment designing and producing Printed Wiring Boards (PWB) for aerospace and defense hardware.
Design, plan, and facilitate the fabrication of aerospace hardware utilizing internal BAE Systems SMS facilities and external suppliers.
Experience in material selection of PWB designs including qualification of materials, PWB finishes and a working knowledge of aerospace and industrial specifications.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
Occasional work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.

A DoW Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
As this position requires operating a company vehicle, an offer and subsequent employment are contingent upon possessing and maintaining a valid US driver's license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Hands-on experience with Printed Wiring Assemblies (PWA), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and/or Microelectronics Packaging for aerospace hardware.
Working knowledge with industry standards, design tools, manufacturing standards and fabrication techniques for Printed Wiring Assemblies (PWA), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and/or Microelectronics Packaging.
Project management experience working with estimating and developing cost and schedule estimates for new and existing program support.
Broad knowledge in process development and implementation for metal finish, bonding, coatings, plating, including a working knowledge of aerospace and industry process specifications.
Working knowledge with Statistical Process Control and statistical analytical methods.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing methods and practices (Kanban method, Kaizen events, etc.)
Active DoW secret clearance.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
