BAE Systems Engineer II - Robotic 3D Scanning & Advanced Manufacturing in Westminster, Colorado

Job Description

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

What You ll Do:

  • Support and expand the use of 3D scanning technologies for production hardware, development efforts, and research initiatives.

  • Analyze scan data using advanced inspection software and generate clear, customer-ready dimensional reports.

  • Develop standardized workflows, best practices, and documentation for scan data processing and reporting.

  • Train and mentor additional personnel in digital inspection tools and methodologies.

  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve quality, throughput, repeatability, and cost efficiency.

  • Learn and deeply understand existing manufacturing processes in order to optimize workflows, eliminate non-value-added steps, and ensure operations are mature and stable prior to introducing new technologies or automation.

  • Support integration and improvement of robotic or automated manufacturing systems where appropriate.

  • Identify opportunities for automation, tooling improvements, and digital manufacturing solutions.

  • Create clear manufacturing instructions, process plans, and technical documentation suitable for production and service center use.

  • Translate engineering drawings and design intent into executable manufacturing workflows.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.

  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.

  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • Experience with 3D scanning technologies and dimensional inspection methodologies.

  • Willingness and ability to learn advanced metrology/data analysis software and produce high-quality dimensional reports.

  • Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent.

  • Problem-solving skills with experience supporting production environments.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Communication skills.

A DoW Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Working knowledge of robotics, automated manufacturing systems, or industrial automation.

  • Experience developing manufacturing process plans or technical work instructions.

  • Proficiency in GD&T and tolerance analysis.

  • Background in aerospace, defense, high-reliability manufacturing, or similarly regulated industries.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79365 - $134921

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
