Schwab Asset Management (SAM) manages investment products and capabilities that support millions of client accounts across Charles Schwab. Accurate, consistent, and trusted data is foundational to SAM’s ability to scale investment operations, meet regulatory obligations, and enable analytics and decision‑making across the firm.
The Senior Manager, Data Product Management – Fundamental Data role owns shared referential and foundational data products on the Schwab Asset Management Data Architecture (SAMDA) platform. This role is accountable for defining, delivering, and evolving authoritative data domains—such as reference, entity, classification, and core investment data—that are reused broadly across SAM systems and downstream consumers. Operating with significant autonomy, the role partners closely with technology, operations, governance, and business stakeholders to ensure fundamental data is reliable, scalable, and aligned to enterprise standards and business outcomes.

Establishes clear success metrics for data quality, adoption, and operational impact
Operates independently with minimal oversight on organization‑critical shared data domains
Owns outcomes across multiple teams and systems dependent on fundamental data
Influences through expertise, credibility, and structured decision‑making rather than positional authority
Aligns data product decisions to enterprise strategy, platform standards, and measurable business value , without owning full data portfolio strategy
Discovery, Delivery & Execution
Balances discovery and delivery for complex data domains, sequencing work across ingestion, standardization, and access layers
Owns backlog health, ensuring multiple sprints of dev‑ready data stories with clear acceptance criteria and data quality expectations
Defines epics and roadmap horizons 2–3 months out , participating in quarterly PI Planning and dependency coordination
Ensures production readiness and ongoing support for shared data products, including triage of data defects and quality issues
Proactively identifies and mitigates data risk, dependency risk, and delivery risk inherent in shared foundational data
Data Quality, Consistency & Reuse
Partners with data governance, architecture, and engineering to ensure consistent definitions, classifications, and reference standards
Drives adoption of shared fundamental data by aligning with downstream consumers (analytics, reporting, operations, platforms)
Leverages data usage insights and feedback to refine data products and reduce duplication across the ecosystem
Ensures fundamental data products support scalability, auditability, and regulatory needs without owning enterprise‑wide policy
Cross‑Functional & Stakeholder Leadership
Leads alignment across SAM business teams, operations, technology, and platform partners for assigned data domains
Communicates data product decisions, tradeoffs, and progress clearly, connecting outcomes to business and operational value
Ensures documentation and communications enable effective reuse of shared data assets
May mentor other product managers or analysts, contributing to stronger data product practices without formal people management accountability

Curious learner who seeks root causes to prevent future problems, including investigating data quality and reconciliation issues and driving durable fixes
Strong partnership skills and a can-do attitude to thrive in a complex, dynamic environment, collaborating with engineering, operations, governance, and downstream consumers to deliver shared data products
Ability to adapt to change and hold the high-level needs of many products and departments in mind, balancing standardization with practical delivery for shared foundational data
