Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2126000 and is part of the 106TH RQW, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Responsibilities As a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (GS-2130-09) you will serve as a traffic management specialist performing technical and analyticalwork concerned with planning, development and execution of traffic policies and programs. Incumbent provides guidance to units and customers concerning tracking, security, handling, storage, and aircraft loading of general cargo, hazardous materials and material requiring special handling. Incumbent must be able to obtain safe, economical and efficient transportation of freight to meet mission needs by providing 24/7 global supply operations. This position is subject to shift work and/or weekend assignments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Experience, education, or training, involving the movement of freight or passengers and determining transportation and operating costs. Experience participating in the direction and coordination of traffic management functions. Experience interpreting and providing routine advice on carrier tariffs and related routing guides. Interpreting regulations/requirements and developing local policies to implement changes effectively. Experience applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures. Experience preparing reports and recommendations involving appeals, special permits, adjustments in rates and charges. Experience which involved negotiations with carriers on individual shipments or traffic movement. Experience in making effective presentations both orally and in writing. Education If you are using Education to qualify for this position, Major study -- accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. Additional Information If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency (Register | Selective Service System : Selective Service System (sss.gov)). This position is indefinite without the potential to convert to permanent. Employees hired under indefinite appointments may not exceed 5 years (consecutive) time with the agency. The applicant selected may be released at any time subject to a 30-day notice and advised of his/her rights and benefits to which entitled. If a permanent employee accepts this indefinite position, their tenure will change from permanent to indefinite.
