West Valley Cleanup Alliance, LLC STEM Internship Engineering/Nuclear in West Valley, New York
The internship program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, develop practical skills, enhance knowledge, and make meaningful contributions to projects. Intern assignments will be determined based on business need and role availability with consideration to skills and development goals. The Engineering/Nuclear Safety Intern will gain knowledge and experience in overall nuclear facility safety analysis and evaluation and perform calculations to gain insight into methods used for assessing component failure and radiation exposure. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: Pursuing a BA/BS in engineering, science, construction management, computer sciences, or other technically related fields of study. Must be at least a rising Junior. Preference for courses in nuclear engineering/health physics or physics/chemistry and related courses, with a preference for experience using software (MS Excel, MathCad, Python) for performing calculations. Other Requirements: Ability to intern for 10 weeks Enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new challenges MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE OF WORK Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; including following all safety rules, use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE), investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations. Adhere to standards contained in the Company Code of Conduct, Company EEO practices, and DOE directives. Perform diverse assignments within functional specialty. Participate in projects and deliverables as directed by manager. Support the team in preparing reports, presentations, and technical documentation. Prepare a Final Presentation for Staff Managers at the end of the internship depicting internship experience and accomplished projects.
