Description:

The Processing Supervisor leads the Receiving Department (24/7 area) team to ensure daily safety, quality, and efficiency goals. Although clerical tasks are involved, the role is also floor-focused, ensuring active engagement with employees to drive performance, uphold operational standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Schedule will vary to provide support and visibility across shifts and weekends. On-call availability to support department needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive overall departmental, shift and production efficiency.
  • Ensure Food and Employee Safety - Uphold and enforce all food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., USDA, HACCP). Promote a culture of safety by training employees, identifying hazards, and implementing corrective actions to prevent contamination and workplace incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with and enforcement of all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Effectively plan and communicate production schedules based on incoming product and production needs.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities for the area, enter work orders as needed.
  • Identify and resolve production-related issues, escalating as needed. Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Assess shift staffing needs and allocate labor resources accordingly.
  • Continuously monitor work instructions, processes, and equipment to optimize efficiency and reduce costs. Collaborate on and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify, schedule, and oversee training and development for employees, including new hires, transfers, and cross-training opportunities. This may require development and implementation of trainings.
  • Support shift lead(s) in developing leadership skills.
  • Manage employee relations, addressing complaints, conducting evaluations, and providing motivation, coaching, discipline, and recognition as needed. Clearly define and communicate department goals.
  • Participate actively in hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Review reports from Quality Assurance, Maintenance, etc., implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct regular meetings and check-ins with team to share company updates and gather feedback on potential issues or improvements.
  • Verify quality control measures.
  • Ensure accurate, timely and complete record-keeping.
  • Provide and maintain a high level of morale and motivation throughout the department, and lead by example with a positive, confident attitude.
  • Provide support (visibility) across shifts and weekends. On-call availability to support department needs.
  • Backfill to positions as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exhibit the ability and interest to learn and apply new skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Competence in operating equipment and troubleshooting department-specific technological issues.
  • Willingness and ability to provide support across all areas of the department.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Effective communication skills to uphold safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow standard operating procedures and company policies, written in English, to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Capability to take ownership of department activities, provide performance feedback, and support team development.
  • Strong prioritization, delegation, and team management skills.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). College degree in Supervisory Management or related field preferred.
  • 2 ye rs supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous scheduling experience a plus.
  • Experience backing a semi/shag truck a plus.
