Electrical Engineering Designer
Job Description
The Electrical Engineering Designer will lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for commercial projects in the electric vehicle charging space. This role ensures compliance with all relevant codes and standards and is crucial in maintaining detailed designs for large EV clients. The designer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget. The position ensures the successful execution of electrical projects from concept through completion, maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Responsibilities
Develop complete electrical design packages for Level 2 / DCFC EV charging installations, including site layouts, single-line diagrams, conduit and wiring plans, and load calculations.
Conduct electrical load analysis and service capacity evaluations to determine utility upgrade requirements.
Ensure all designs comply with NEC, local building codes, and utility standards.
Prepare permit-ready drawings and documentation for AHJ submissions.
Conduct site walks to verify existing electrical infrastructure, panel capacity, grounding conditions, and charger placement feasibility.
Collect field data, photos, and measurements to support accurate design and layout.
Coordinate with construction teams during installation to ensure design intent is followed.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in electrical design.
Knowledge and familiarity with NEC.
Ability to design and develop electrical power distribution systems using AutoCAD and ETAP software.
Ability to create and review wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
Coordination skills to work with project managers, contractors, and clients.
Ability to conduct site visits to oversee installation of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Field electrical experience is preferred.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
