General Summary Statement
Respiratory Therapist (Registered Respiratory Therapist) provides clinical assessment, pulmonary education and exercise guidance in Cardiopulmonary Rehab. Collaborates with the RN and staff to provide appropriate therapy and education for participants as well as help to establish program guidelines that support the mission, philosophy and objectives of The Chester County Hospital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Must be familiar with basic cardiac monitoring equipment, as well as cardiopulmonary exercise devices and adjunct equipment.
Must have necessary skills to identify clinical problems through observation, assessment and conversation with patients during all phases of care and general contact with the patients.
Must be knowledgeable and able to handle breathing devices such as nebulizers, non–rebreather masks and 02 for daily and emergency use
Must be astute in interpreting these problems, as well as pulmonary problems, and be able to decide on the most effective and appropriate method and treatment and action to be taken to address these conditions.
Case manages the patients and their charts providing education and medication reviews. Communicate with physicians.
Education Training and Experience
Respiratory Therapist: Graduate of AMA approved respiratory therapy program, currently licensed in state of PA, Registered Respiratory Therapist certificate. ACLS certification required.
