Job Description Summary

This job is for a Systems Engineer for the LM6000 engine line. The LM6000 is an industrial and marine variant of the aircraft engine CF6-80C2 that has been modified for to power oil & gas and electrical applications. The LM6000 Model Leader will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. This leader is the prime focal for system-level coordination on LM6000 related efforts within GE Aerospace, Baker Hughes, GE Vernova and the Aero Alliance.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead / Participate Field Investigation TOPS8D
Provide guidance on field actions – control plans and field hardware campaigns
Cognizant of field behavior (top LRU and UER drivers) and specific causes (one or two layers down). Support Design teams by assisting in collecting field data, Tech Review / PCB preparation, Qual Plans and Qual Report document reviews.
Owns and drives the strategic plan for the engine level model, including engine configuration, maintenance plan, and growth opportunities. Supports Technology insertion requirements.
Owns Engine - Package ICD’s
Owns & Prime technical content responsibility area for certain customer SOWs to align placeholder ideas to CTQ’s from customers, for respective engine program. Along with cross-functional leads, owns the technical content for the LM6000 engine model.
POC (Point of contact) for Program manager
POC for Technical point of contact for the Aero-Alliance Joint Venture and related Channel Partners.
POC for engine-package integration issues
POC for engine proposals on respective engine program
Support and/or Drive technical investigations (field, factory, quality, etc.) to completion - not necessarily as team leader (certainly can lead teams) but ensuring structure, timeliness, and process (e.g. TOPS-8D).
Support and/or Drive closure on all program safety issues on respective engine program.
Represents engine program for engineering at PCB
Provides system level technical requirements for new design tasks, working with module owners.
Cognizant of Customer management, Engine technical risks and mitigations processes, Test strategy and engine cost strategies.
Cognizant of field behavior (top LRU and UER drivers) and specific causes (one or two layers down). Support Design teams by assisting in collecting field data, Tech Review / PCB preparation, Qual Plans and Qual Report document reviews.
Cognizant of all NPI activities on respective engine program. Owns Technical Review meetings, agenda and logistics… TR Chairs .
Ensure leading indicator programs in place as appropriate. Owns Engine Model related Top Issues and leads the discussion at meetings.
Work with customer on programmatic metrics and management related to funding items, variances, customer SOW deliverables and related logistics etc. Work closely with Module leaders, hardware owners, Performance, Projects, and Program Managers and ensuring overall collaboration & mitigating challenges toward overall success of the projects.
Work closely with cross functional team in Translating Engine Requirements to Systems Requirements at a (Flange to Flange) level includes: Examples:
SPOCT Configuration and interface aspects
Engine Cost
Etc.
Support customer related projects and work with SOW focal in driving Projects and other customer related programs, to successful completion with Optimum quality, On time deliverable and cost mindset.
Execute with limited guidance the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
Recommend approaches to meet the technical and program requirements
Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments
Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
Provide guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization
Assure proper documentation of deliverables generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures and customer requirements
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks
Responsible for defining requirements for the Module, Component and Partnering teams
Manage Interfaces between execution organizations
Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components and manage the overall product configuration and configuration control system
Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes and services
Stay informed of industry trends that may inform work
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical program reviews with Internal, External and End Customers
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 15 years of experience in advanced engine design or engine systems integration
Desired Characteristics
Systems Engineering experience with GTEs
Engine test experience w GTEs
Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage projects and operational process
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to guide and influence others
In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools
