Job Title: Automotive Mechanic
Job Description
This role focuses on test driving vehicles and accurately diagnosing mechanical and performance issues using both road testing and computerized diagnostic tools. You will evaluate a high volume of vehicles each day, identify concerns quickly and precisely, and perform light-duty repairs such as adjusting fluid levels and addressing basic brake issues.
Responsibilities
Test drive vehicles to identify and confirm mechanical, performance, and drivability issues.
Hook vehicles up to computerized diagnostic equipment to run diagnostics and scan fault codes.
Assess approximately 10–20 vehicles per day, providing clear and accurate findings for each vehicle.
Spend the majority of each day (about 90%) performing test drives and diagnostic evaluations.
Perform light-duty repairs, including checking and adjusting fluid levels and conducting basic brake work.
Document diagnostic results and repair recommendations in a clear and organized manner.
Communicate identified issues and suggested repairs to relevant team members in a professional and timely way.
Follow established procedures and safety guidelines while test driving and working on vehicles.
Essential Skills
Proven ability to diagnose vehicle issues through test driving and observation.
Hands-on experience using computerized diagnostic tools and code scanners on vehicles.
Strong troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of mechanical and performance problems.
Practical experience performing light-duty repairs, including fluid level checks and basic brake work.
Ability to efficiently assess a high volume of vehicles each day while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Solid understanding of automotive systems and components related to drivability and safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a fast-paced automotive environment with multiple vehicles under evaluation.
Strong communication skills to clearly explain diagnostic findings and recommended repairs.
Ability to follow standardized diagnostic procedures and documentation practices.

Work Environment
This position is based in an automotive setting where you will split your time between the shop and the road while test driving vehicles. The workday involves handling 10–20 vehicles, requiring steady focus and efficient time management. You should be prepared for a hands-on environment that may involve exposure to noise, vehicle fluids, and typical shop conditions, while following all safety procedures and appropriate work attire guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Chester, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
