Job Description

The Professional Science Consultant (Tutor) will meet with students to provide students on the Keokuk Campus Tutoring services for Anatomy & Physiology, as well as Microbiology. The ideal candidate would be able to Tutor in Chemistry as well. This position falls under the supervision of the Learning Resources Coordinator.

Job Description:

  • 12-16 hours per week, scheduled Monday-Thursday from 9am to 3 pm.

  • This position runs with the SCC Academic Calendar for Fall & Spring semesters. This position would begin ASAP , run through May, & return in August for the 2026-2027 Academic Year.

  • Pay rate is $19 per hour. These positions are part-time hourly positions, and are not eligible for SCC benefits

  • Tutoring sessions run 50 minutes beginning on the hour.

    Location:Keokuk, Iowa

    Required Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree with sufficient collegiate coursework in the Science, & ability to assist students with Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, & potentially Chemistry coursework.

  • Excellent customer service skills required.

    A copy of unofficial transcripts must be sent as well.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Human Health & Physiology, Exercise Science, Health Science, Nursing, Kinesiology, or related filed of study.

  • Experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disabled backgrounds of community college students

  • Experience working as a Science Tutor or in a Tutoring Center

  • Experience working with adult learners

  • Base-level technology knowledge
