Job Title: CNC Milling Machinist – Journeyman Class A
Job Description
This position offers an opportunity for a highly experienced CNC Milling Machinist to support precision manufacturing for aerospace and defense applications. You will work as a Journeyman Class A machinist, independently setting up, programming, and running CNC milling centers to produce complex, tight-tolerance components from a wide range of alloy steels and exotic materials while maintaining strict quality and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Set up, program, and operate CNC milling centers to produce precision components for aerospace and defense applications.
Machine complex geometries with tight tolerances and superior surface finish requirements.
Interpret and apply engineering drawings, process plans, and specifications in compliance with GD&T standards.
Independently optimize machining processes for efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.
Select and apply appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and workholding methods for a variety of materials.
Inspect in-process and finished components using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
Ensure compliance with aerospace and defense quality standards, safety requirements, and documentation practices.
Troubleshoot and resolve machining, tooling, and dimensional issues to maintain production flow and quality.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
Journeyman Class A Machinist or equivalent advanced machining experience.
Proven ability to set up, program, and run production independently on CNC milling equipment.
Demonstrated ability to machine complex, close-tolerance parts with superior surface finishes.
Extensive experience machining 300, 400, and PH series stainless steels; 4140, 4340, and 8620 alloy steels; Nitralloy 135M; 1020, 1030, and 1045 carbon steels; Inconel; Titanium; Brass; and Aluminum alloys.
Full working knowledge of GD&T standards and their application to precision machining.
Strong blueprint reading skills for complex aerospace and defense components.
Solid shop math skills to support accurate setups, offsets, and dimensional verification.
High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality, process control, and repeatability.
Ability to inspect parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Ability to troubleshoot machining and tooling issues on CNC milling machines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with CNC program creation and modification at the machine control.
Background operating a variety of CNC machines, including CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
Hands-on experience with mill machining and general machining operations.
Familiarity with different workholding methods and cutting tool technologies.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple setups and jobs in a production environment.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Bridgewater, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
