Position Information
We are seeking a Maintenance Worker III, under general supervision, to maintain buildings and equipment for assigned department.
Responsibilities:
Performs maintenance and repair for facilities (building, electrical and/or HVAC) and equipment (including air compressors, vacuum pump, heating and cooling systems, greenhouse controls panels, lights, vent-a-hoods, growth chambers, and cold room); assists in preparing floors and occasionally replaces broken or missing tile
Maintains and repairs mechanical systems such as, but not limited to, lighting, heating, air conditioning systems, electrical work, and general plumbing
Monitors heating and cooling systems for proper function and correct temperature
Installs new electrical and plumbing lines for new equipment
Maintains facilities, perform demolition and construction tasks and performs minor repairs and maintenance on facility equipment. Inspects buildings for proper working order
Performs skilled trade work including, but not limited to, painting, carpentry, plumbing, plastering, cementing and electrical work. Performs welding in heating, cutting and brazing of ferrous non-ferrous metals with acetylene electrical equipment
Performs some field operations such as weeding, irrigating, harvesting and providing general field plot maintenance support as needed
Operates machinery such as drill press, sharpeners, table saws, chain saws, lawn mowers, edgers, weed eaters, and other miscellaneous equipment
Repairs sidewalks, sewer lines, building slabs, streets, and related installations
Assists in planning and/or supervision of major repair projects; maintains inventory and maintenance records
Prepares cost estimates for repairs and materials for projects
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
H igh school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three years of experience in building, machinery, and/or equipment operations and maintenance; installation and repair work; materials handling, and warehouse operation
Knowledge of HVAC and electrical
Knowledge of machine shop operations
Knowledge of mechanical equipment
Knowledge of basic welding and carpentry skills
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Ability to establish working relationships
Current HVAC License or Certifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates in Applied Science in fields such as HVAC & Refrigeration
More than three years of experience in building, machinery, and/or equipment operations and maintenance; installation and repair work; materials handling, or warehouse operation
EPA Certified
Valid driver’s license
Other Requirements or Factors:
Willingness and ability to perform majority of job duties outdoors
Ability to lift heavy objects
Ability to exert heavy force

Salary: Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate’s qualifications. This is an hourly paid position.
