Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, Inc. In Community Addiction Counselor in WELLSVILLE, New York

The Allegany Council on Alcoholism & Substance Abuse, Inc. is looking for an In-Community Addiction Counselor to join our team. The In-Community Addiction Counselor will work out of our substance use disorder outpatient clinic providing clinical services in the community. Responsibilities would include evaluating and treating patients in the community, working with an in-community peer advocate and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.AS AN IN-COMMUNITY ADDICTION COUNSELOR YOUR REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:1. To work with and interview the individual in the community for intake, assessment and diagnostic purposes relating to his/her alcohol and/or drug related problems and behavior.2. To be responsible for assigned patients documentation, (i.e.) interview notes, release of information forms, progress notes, discharge summaries.3. To be familiar with and provide documentation in an Electronic Health Record (EHR).4. To facilitate patient admission to appropriate level of care on the basis ofassessment and diagnostic results.5. To prepare a specific treatment plan for and with each assigned individual and explain the need for their involvement in treatment.6. To interview the spouse and/or other collateral of each assigned patient and explain the need for their involvement in the evaluation and treatment process.7. To provide clinical services in the community for the individual, and refer the individual to appropriate services within the community and agency.7. Utilize motivational interviewing skills to encourage positive behavioral changes and reinforce treatment goals.8. To attend case conference, staff; and in-service meetings as scheduled.9. To represent ACASA in the community and at professional and community meetings, as assigned.10. To submit required data as required per the In-Community RFA.11. To maintain working relationships with other services/organizations in order to facilitate referral and linkages as well as advocate for same.12. Strong skills in crisis intervention and crisis management to effectively de-escalate stressful situations.13. Skilled at practicing core competencies of an addiction counselor.14. Possession of a valid NYS Driver's license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.15. Abide by ethical codes of conduct established by credential and agency standards.16. Knowledge of behavioral health principals.17. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster trust within diverse communities.18. Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality, HIPAA, privacy, program, billing and documentation standards.19. To do all in accordance with existing law and regulation.SUPERVISION: Receives supervision from the Clinic Director or the Clinic Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS:1. Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology, or closely related field. CASAC preferred.Or2.
