Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Foreperson, the employee operates a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles in the performance of moderately complex construction and maintenance activities associated with road and bridge projects. Vehicles and equipment operated include (but are not limited to) dump trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, and front-end loaders. Employee receives specific instructions from supervisor. Work is performed under established procedures with frequent inspections during progress with final inspection of completed work. Employee performs maintenance inspections on assigned equipment, notify supervisor of equipment repair needs or failures, and may assist with repairs and maintenance. Employees also perform other routine manual labor as assigned. This job is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to pre-employment background check and random drug screens.
Essential Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Equipment Operation. Operates equipment to assist in the completion of Randolph County road and bridge construction projects.
1.
Receives project assignments from supervisor daily and weekly.
2.
Operates dump truck, backhoe, bulldozer, front-end loader, and other heavy equipment in connection with road and bridge construction projects.
3.
Operates tractors with various attachments in performing right-of-way (ROW) maintenance.
4.
Monitors gauges and other indicators during equipment operation for non-standard conditions.
5.
Follow plans and instructions regarding projects.
6.
Studies operations manual for new equipment.
7.
Communicates work progress with supervisor.
