What this job involves:The Engineering Technical Advisor will serve as the primary technical expert for engineering operations, providing specialized technical support, regulatory guidance, and training leadership across all facility engineering disciplines. This role combines direct supervision of Field Support Specialist staff with a focus on technical excellence, knowledge management, and capability development to support field operations teams and ensure operational continuity across the portfolio. Your day-to-day tasks will include: Serve as subject matter expert for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and building automation systems Provide advanced technical troubleshooting and problem-solving support to field teams as technical escalation point Lead regular technical meetings and engage with Regional Operations Managers, Operations Managers, and Technicians to provide guidance, share best practices, and address operational challenges Develop andmaintaintechnical standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), preventive maintenance task libraries, equipment specifications, best practices documentation, and technical reference guides;establishquality review processes to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and regulatory compliance Design and deliver comprehensive technical training programs and career development pathways for engineering staff Conduct compliance assessments and interface with regulatory authorities and municipal officials Oversee fleet vehicle inventory, compliance tracking, and specialized equipment procurement Provide direct supervision and performance management for Field Support Specialist positions Provide technical oversight and strategic direction for HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) and Sustainability workstreams Participate in talent management activities including candidate interviewing, and selection processes for technicians and engineering staff across the portfolio Coordinate emergency technical support for building system failures and critical incidents Travel Required: This position requires up to 20% travel throughout account portfolio. Desired experience and technical skills: Requirements: Bachelor's degree required Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in commercial building engineering Extensive experience with HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, air handlers, controls) Advanced knowledge of electrical systems (power distribution, lighting, emergency systems) Experience with building automation systems and energy management Preferred: Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Engineering degree Professional Engineering (PE) license Relevant industry certifications (HVAC Excellence, NECA, Building Performance Institute) Current knowledge of applicable codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, IBC, IMC, IPC) Previous training or teaching experience Background in preventive maintenance program development and implementation This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
