Ford Motor Company PVT Engineer in Wayne, Michigan

This position is for the Michigan Assembly Plant (MAP) Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) with focus on 26MY Bronco and Ranger program for V18 Electrical quality for low voltage wiring and all EDS components. The Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer is a member of Ford Motor Company's Product Development organization. The PVT Engineer is 'first line of defense' with regards to quality and has several responsibilities associated with analyzing and improving the Quality of the vehicles.

What you'll do...

  • Prioritize and drive interim containment actions (ICA) and permanent corrective actions (PCA) to address customer quality concerns from various sources (i.e., Warranty, Executive Escalations, Social Media Feedback, and Technical Hotline)

  • Take a central role in resolving customer issues and reducing warranty:

  • Take ownership of customer critical issues and ensure resolution is achieved.

  • Warranty claims analysis (i.e., reading claims, contact dealerships/utilize connected vehicle data for further technical claim details, confirm parts return/analysis)

  • Bin claims into proper binning categories and track improvement actions through the Quality AI IRIS/SIMPSN system

  • Develop/Manage/Own SIMPSN projects to track and document quality improvement actions to deliver Vehicle Line

  • Communicate any help needed to contain issues through the vehicle functional group (VFG) quality quarterbacks and functional quality reviews (FQR)

  • Utilize external and internal quality data to develop ICA/PCA actions for in-plant quality concerns and external warranty claims.

  • Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for FH sub-systems and work closely with STA (supplier technical assistance) engineers and suppliers to address supplier quality concerns.

  • Identify and deliver current model design projects with support from core and VFG leaders.

  • Initiate/support Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS) Concerns (CR) and alerts for design changes and plant trials

  • Keep a clear communication channel on daily work/activities with Direct Supervisor/Peers, while maintaining resilience to balance among daily/weekly new demands.

  • Work collaboratively with VRT counterparts at sister plant Dearborn Truck Plant for common issue identification/containment.

  • Lead plant trials for quality, cost, and supplier improvements

  • Support plan in resolving stop ships/builds, campaigns, quality issues, ergo issues, & first time through (FTT) issues.

  • Support Daily binning meetings, daily plant quality meetings, biweekly VRT report outs, biweekly VRT Report Outs, and monthly Vehicle Quality Reviews.

  • Support Launch on Major and Minor programs.

  • Utilize Diagnostic Engineering Tool (DET) and Ford Diagnosis and Service (FDRS) tool to assist vehicle triage

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

  • Previous experience as product/quality engineer, preferably in electrical/software, with a knowledge of quality containment and corrective actions.

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Ability to work well with people, specifically in an assembly plant environment and across multiple cultures.

Even better, you may have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.

  • Successful completion of green belt training and/or black belt certification.

  • Experience working in GSAR/JIRA/BSAQ/QED/SREA/AIMS /WERS and IRIS/SIMPSN.

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 and ranges from $72,480-162,120.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
