    Due to a resignation, Prairie West Elementary School is seeking a dedicated, loyal, and student-centered Elementary Special Education Teacher for the 2026–27 school year.

Prairie West Elementary is a new K–4 building that offers an intimate, family-like environment backed by a progressive district dedicated to innovation and excellence. With a student body of 235, we provide personalized, high-quality opportunities that empower every student to reach their full potential.

There is a potential for this position to be shared with W-SR School District and an accredited, non-public school.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide special education services to elementary students within a strong, supportive professional community. This position is part of a special education team, within a building that includes certified teachers and staff members dedicated to student success.

Qualifications

  • Valid Iowa teaching license

  • K–8 Instructional Strategist I: Mild/Moderate (260) endorsement

  • Has or is willing to obtain a K-8 Instructional Strategist II: ID (264) endorsement and/or K-8 Instructional Strategist II: BD LD (263) endorsement

  • Strong knowledge of special education best practices

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, families, and support staff
