The City of Wauseon is taking applications for the position of Lateral Police Officer with at least 1 year experience.

[Under general supervision of the shift supervisor, the Police Officer patrols the city to protect residents and their property; responds to calls for assistance; conducts investigations of accidents, crime scenes, or criminal activity occurring within the city limits; arrests suspected criminals; prepares reports and other documentation. ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif;="" font-size:="" 11pt"=""}

[Based on evaluation by the City of the officer's ability to perform required duties at a level commensurate to their years of experience, the City may at its sole discretion compensate and extend vacation benefits to this incoming officer (with certain qualifications) up to the same rate as established for current employees in the same classification and who have the same time in service as the incoming officer.]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif;="" font-size:="" 11pt"=""}

Qualifications: Must be a current law enforcement officer with at least 12 consecutive months of continuous certified duty as a full-time patrol officer for the State of Ohio or political subdivision(s) OR have 2080 hours ofpart-time service as a patrol officer for the State of Ohio or political subdivision(s); must qualify for and maintain insurability under the city's vehicle insurance policy; may be required to submit to various investigations and examinations including, but not limited to, complete background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological and medical evaluation, physical fitness examination, oral review and drug screening; and must not have any felony convictions or have plead guilty to a felony.
