Job Description:
The Speech Therapist provides diagnosis and treatment for acute care and adult patients with communicative, cognitive and dysphagia disorders.
Experience/Qualifications:
Knowledge of speech therapy standards and practices is normally acquired through a minimum completion of a master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
A minor in psychology, special education, learning disabilities and/or general science beneficial.
Previous work experience in a clinical or hospital setting with a caseload predominantly of adult neurologically impaired patients.
Two to five years’ experience in an acute care hospital is beneficial.
Current Wisconsin and/or Michigan Speech-Language Pathology licensure required.
Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED. Accreditation in specialty is beneficial.
Cognitive requirements include a high level of problem solving, reasoning and organization skills, along with excellent reception and expressive skills necessary.
