As a Sr. Product Designer at Generac, you will own the end-to-end design of digital experiences that connect customers to their Generac products. You will partner with cross-functional teams to define user problems, explore solutions, and deliver high-quality designs that balance user needs with business goals.
To succeed in this role, you learn quickly, dig into details, and think in systems—able to connect digital and physical experiences with clarity and precision.
You have a strong command of product design fundamentals and design systems and are comfortable working across the product development lifecycle—from discovery through implementation. You’re a proactive problem solver who collaborates well across disciplines, advocates for the user, and seeks opportunities to mentor peers and influence product direction.
We are open to hiring candidates across multiple locations in both the U.S. and Canada. This is an in-office position in the United States and a hybrid position in Canada.
Major Responsibilities
Design mobile experiences that integrate with connected systems and physical products.
Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and QA to define requirements, explore design options, and ensure a high-quality implementation.
Apply a systems-thinking approach to create cohesive end-to-end experiences.
Conduct and synthesize user research to inform design direction and validate solutions.
Develop and iterate on wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
Contribute to the evolution of our design system and advocate for consistent, scalable design patterns.
Communicate design rationale and decisions clearly to stakeholders and team members.
Participate in product planning conversations and contribute to roadmap prioritization through the lens of user experience.
Provide feedback to peers and support junior designers through informal mentorship.
Champion a user-centered mindset within cross-functional teams and help shape design best practices across the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field—or equivalent practical experience.
Work Experience
5+ years of experience designing digital products for mobile and web applications.
A portfolio that demonstrates strong design craft, thoughtful problem-solving, and shipped work at scale.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Advanced proficiency in Figma for design and prototyping
Strong understanding of user-centered design processes and interaction design principles
Ability to analyze user research and apply insights to improve product experiences
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams
Working knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design
Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality design work
Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable working with ambiguity
Preferred Job Requirements
Work Experience
Experience designing for connected devices or IoT platforms
History of contributing to or managing design systems
Experience conducting usability testing and synthesizing results
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Familiarity with Maze or other UX research tools
Basic understanding of HTML/CSS
Experience facilitating workshops or collaborative design sessions

Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is between $120,000 CAD - $149,900 CAD. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. The salary range may vary across different regions, states, and provinces and will ultimately be aligned with the location in which the position is filled. This role is eligible for variable compensation, including short-term and long-term incentives.
