What You\'ll Do As a Package Development Engineer, you\'ll support metal packaging projects across the entire development cycle. This includes designing, validating, and improving physical products that end up in millions of hands every day. Your responsibilities will include: Project Leadership Manage multiple packaging development projects from concept through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and technical goals are met. Coordinate crossfunctional teams such as R&D, manufacturing, quality, operations, marketing, and suppliers. Drive project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, documentation, and communication. Apply structured risk management to minimize technical and commercial risks. Travel where your projects are taking place, expect up to 50% in year one; typically 30-40% thereafter. Technical and Innovation Work Lead research, earlystage ideation, and feasibility activities for new metal food container concepts. Develop, test, and troubleshoot packaging designs with a handson mechanical and materials engineering approach. Create prototypes using internal and external resources; analyze performance and translate findings into actionable improvements. Support process enhancement, material innovation, and continuous improvement across Silgan\'s facilities. Conduct trials at manufacturing plants; refine package performance through testing, data analysis, and iteration. What We Need You to Have A Bachelor\'s degree in a related technical field such as Packaging, Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
