Actalent Controls Engineer in Waukesha, Wisconsin
Key Responsibilities:
Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
Develop electrical control schematics, panel layouts, and I/O documentation
Specify and configure automation hardware (PLCs, drives, sensors, safety devices)
Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and systems
Diagnose and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime
Collaborate with mechanical, process, and quality engineers on system integration
Implement safety standards and ensure compliance with applicable codes (NFPA, UL, OSHA, etc.)
Modify and improve existing control systems to enhance performance and reliability
Create and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures
Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production teams
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
3+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering (adjust as needed)
Experience with PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent)
Familiarity with HMIs, VFDs, servos, and industrial networking protocols
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Knowledge of safety PLCs and machine safety standards
Experience with SCADA systems and data collection
Exposure to robotics, vision systems, or motion control
Project management or capital equipment experience

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
