The Purchasing Assistant supports Waukegan procurement and production activities through processing of purchase orders, expediting, word processing, spreadsheet preparation and other clerical administrative functions.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in collaborating with others to perform purchasing tasks within a team environment. Work experience with a privately held company will be beneficial.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Purchasing Assistant will:
- Performs administrative duties for the Purchasing Department. Said duties include but are not limited to; generating various reports, preparing spreadsheets for analysis, word processing, filing.
- Assist Buyers with; placing and expediting orders, supplier follow-ups, completing bi-weekly past due reports, completing NCRs, invoice processing.
- Place corporate Purchase Orders for Purchasing and other departments. Enter new suppliers in AX.
- Perform special projects and assignments as requested by supervisor.
- Maintain Minority supplier log with current certifications.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required; Associated Degree preferred
- 3-5 years clerical support experience.
Characteristics and Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Essential Physical Abilities:
- Ability to sit or stand at a computer for 80% of the day
- Physical requirements Lift up to 30 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits:
Base Pay Range: \$45,000 to \$50,000 annual pay based on skills and experience
Other Compensation:Overtime Eligibility for 1 times per hour
