Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

The Machine Operator sets up, operates, and oversees production equipment on third shift (11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., Monday–Friday) to support high-volume food packaging operations. This role configures bagging machines, labeling machines, and sealing machines according to the production schedule, performs minor troubleshooting and adjustments, and provides guidance to line operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up a variety of production machines, primarily focused on bagging, labeling, sealing, and related packaging equipment.

  • Follow the production schedule and configure machines according to the specific product and packaging requirements for each run.

  • Use hand and power tools to perform machine setup, changeovers, and necessary mechanical adjustments.

  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical and operational issues on the machines and escalate more complex problems to maintenance when needed.

  • Oversee and coordinate the work of 2–6 operators on the production line, providing direction and support during the shift.

  • Collaborate with machine operators to identify and resolve issues affecting machine performance, product quality, or line efficiency.

  • Utilize the computer system to complete required documentation and production records accurately and on time.

  • Perform basic inspection and quality checks to ensure machines operate within specifications and products meet standards.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with food production and packaging requirements.

  • Work third shift (11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., Monday–Friday) and be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet production demands.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience setting up production machinery in a manufacturing or similar environment.

  • Proficiency in operating and setting up machines such as bagging, labeling, sealing, or related production equipment.

  • Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools for machine setup, adjustments, and minor repairs.

  • Experience overseeing and coordinating the work of at least 2 people on a production line.

  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical and operational issues on production equipment.

  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively in English.

  • Comfort using computer systems for documentation and basic data entry.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following production schedules and procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in food manufacturing or other Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulated environments.

  • Familiarity with inspection processes and quality checks in a production setting.

  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, equipment, and machine components.

  • Ability to work effectively on a night shift schedule and adapt to changing production priorities.

  • Bilingual communication skills.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food production and packaging facility that handles spices, grains, sauces, and other food ingredients. You will work on third shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with the expectation of occasional extended hours and weekend work to meet production requirements. The environment includes operating and working around production machinery, using hand and power tools, and following strict food safety and GMP practices. You will work on and around production lines in a fast-paced setting where cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety and quality standards are essential.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $60000.00/yr.
