Position classification

Hybrid -- Job duties and expectations allow for onsite and remote work scheduled every week. Employees in this classification are regularly scheduled onsite one (1) to four (4) days per week based on the County needs and as determined by Department Director. Hybrid classified roles can be onsite more than the set minimum based on employee preference.

Opportunity for Aviation Students:

Are you currently studying aviation or airport management and looking for real-world experience? Our Colorado Air and Spaceport internship is designed just for college students in aviation programs who want to gain valuable hands-on exposure to how airports operate—from the ground up.

Examples of Duties for Success

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with daily airfield inspections and safety procedures

  • Support airport operations, maintenance, and administrative services

  • Monitor airport weather conditions and issues Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMS) as needed.

  • Operate two-way radios

  • Take part in winter operations to include operating heavy and light equipment in coordination of the operations manager and operations lead.

  • Assists with all on-airport construction activity to comply with FAA, State, Federal and local rules, regulations, and codes.

  • Participate in FAA compliance efforts and security planning

  • Help with budgeting, marketing, and special airport projects

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Our Ideal Candidate Needs:

  • Associate's Degree: Applicants enrolled in an Aviation relate field will substitute for a associates degree.

  • Basic knowledge of airport operations and aviation terms

  • Comfortable using MS Office and office equipment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to work outdoors in changing weather conditions

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and pass a background check

  • Some previous work experience in an aviation/airport environment preferred as well as administrative and customer service knowledge and/or experience.

Work Conditions:

  • Indoor and outdoor environment: office setting, airfield, and hangar areas

  • May involve light physical labor, use of airport vehicles, and field inspections

  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, occasionally around aircraft and equipment

  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts;i.e. holidays, weekends
