Job description:
Disabled Persons Action Organization is now hiring for the position of Full Time Overnight Staff for our respite house in Watertown. Weekly hours would be between 35 and 40. Prospective employee will be required to take classes and testing in order to pass medication to consumers and will also be required to obtain certification to drive the agency vehicle. Benefits and paid time off will be available after a successful 90-day introductory period.

About the Program:
The free standing respite program is for a developmentally disabled person of any age. An individual may stay for as little as an hour, overnight, for the weekend, a week, etc. Each stay may not be more than 30 consecutive days and may not be utilized more than 42 days per year. The house is staffed by experienced people who try to make the individual's stay as much fun, as relaxing, and as much like home as possible. Guest are accepted by appointment only.
Job Description:
Under the direction of the Free Standing Respite Coordinator; will ensure proper care for all individuals, to include assistance with meals, bathing, etc., and provide a safe and nurturing environment by treating all individuals as individuals and meeting their individual needs and wants. Upkeep of the respite house, hourly bed checks and transportation (at times) will be required. Will assist the Coordinator with executing any/all activities and will ensure that established goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with prescribed priorities, time and funding limitations.
Required Experience, Education and Training:
Prospective employees must possess a high school diploma or equivalency, with two (2) years of experience with the developmentally disabled or similar field.
Knowledge: Principles and practices or supervision of developmentally disabled children and adults.
License: Possession of a valid New York State motor vehicle operator's license. Reliable transportation to and from work.
Physically able to work direct-care
