Mill & Grain Operator
Maybury Farms LLC is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mill & Grain Operator to join our agricultural operations team. This hands-on position is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining feed mill machinery used in the production and handling of animal feed and grains.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and welding skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment. This role directly supports the quality, safety, and efficiency of farm and mill operations.
Essential Functions Operate, monitor, and adjust milling, grinding, blending, and mixing equipment. Follow standard operating procedures to ensure consistent, safe production. Perform daily equipment inspections, basic repairs, and preventative maintenance. Conduct welding and fabrication (MIG, TIG, ARC) as needed for machinery and facility maintenance. Receive and unload grain deliveries; store and manage grain in bins following grain flow plans. Load finished feed and bulk grain into trucks safely and accurately. Operate forklifts, conveyors, and other material handling equipment. Climb ladders and elevated platforms to inspect bins, equipment, and inventories. Maintain accurate logs of production, maintenance, and inventory. Perform general housekeeping, groundskeeping, and spill cleanup. Participate in safety meetings and required training. Collaborate with other team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in feed mill, grain handling, agricultural, or food processing operations preferred. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability required. Welding skills (MIG, TIG, ARC) required. Forklift operation experience or willingness to become certified. Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality and safety standards. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Comfortable working at heights and in confined or dusty spaces. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Valid drivers license with a clean driving record preferred.
Physical Demands (ADA & NYS Compliant) This position requires the ability to: Lift, carry, and move up to 75 lbs. regularly. Stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, kneel, and use hands/arms for extended periods. Work at heights and in both indoor and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions. Tolerate exposure to grain dust, loud noise, and heavy equipment vibration. Work extended hours, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.

Work Environment Work is performed in a mill and grain handling environment with exposure to dust, noise, heat, moving machinery, and outdoor elements. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times. Regular exposure to airborne particles, chemicals, and loud noise may occur. Must follow all OSHA and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) safety requirements.
