Job Title: Shipping Associate - 1st - 20/hr
Job Description
The Shipping Associate works in a combined warehouse, wholesale, and retail environment to support daily shipping and receiving operations. This role focuses on loading and unloading shipments, accurately picking products based on tickets, and assisting with bulk and rail car loading when needed. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Responsibilities
Load and unload shipments in a retail, warehouse, and wholesale setting.
Read and interpret tickets to accurately pick products from the warehouse.
Assist with bulk loading of products for outgoing shipments.
Support rail car unloading and loading activities as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
Support loaders and other team members with daily tasks and special requests.
Communicate clearly with drivers regarding incoming and outgoing shipments.
Work independently and unsupervised while meeting productivity and accuracy expectations.
Prepare products and materials for shipment to ensure they are ready for transport.
Follow all safety procedures related to lifting, material handling, and equipment use.
Adapt to changing workload demands, especially during busy seasons with extended hours.
Essential Skills
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted as needed.
Ability to read and understand tickets and work instructions.
Demonstrated communication skills, including speaking with drivers and team members about shipments and traffic flow.
Ability to work alone and unsupervised while staying productive and focused.
Experience working in shipping and receiving, general labor, or similar warehouse roles.
Experience with loading and unloading trucks or shipments.
Experience with warehouse shipping, picking, and inventory-related tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous forklift experience preferred to support future training on forklifts and mobile equipment.
Experience or familiarity with forklift operations, even if not currently certified.
Experience with inventory, inventory control, and warehouse inventory processes.
Experience working with incoming and outgoing traffic or shipments in a team environment.
Willingness to learn to operate forklifts and other mobile equipment such as front-end loaders and skid steers in the future.

Work Environment
This role is based in a wholesale, warehouse, and retail setting within a national company. It is a first-shift position, with standard hours of approximately 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and an expectation of extended hours from about 7:00 a.m. to 6:00–7:00 p.m. during busy seasons. The company experiences two peak periods: one from now until early July and another from September through November. Work takes place in both indoor and outdoor areas, so you should be comfortable working in varying conditions. Steel-toe shoes are required for safety, and jeans or pants are expected as part of the daily attire. Over time, you may use forklifts and other mobile equipment such as front-end loaders and skid steers as training and responsibilities expand.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
