Description:
The Quality Coordinator is responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of the Laboratory Quality Management program, partnering with management to provide continual quality systems assessment, and development of comprehensive policies, procedures, quality training and audits.
Coordinates the development, assessment and monitoring of quality management initiatives, indicators, action plans, audits, and related activities.
Identifies opportunities for process improvement and coordinates required resources to coordinate evaluation and change.
Ensures compliance with applicable accreditation and regulatory agency standards.
Coordinates the inspection-related preparation for accreditation and regulatory inspections.
Coordinates and monitors the laboratory’s proficiency testing program.
Develops, organizes, and presents laboratory quality management reports.
Writes and maintains quality management standard operating procedures that meet quality and regulatory standards.
Monitor point of care QC and patient results. Coordinates the maintenance of an appropriate document control system for laboratory policies, procedures, forms and records.
Supports and utilizes LEAN principles/productivity standards.
Develops and presents staff continuing education on quality, accreditation standards, and patient safety related topics. As appropriate, interacts and consults with physicians, Medical Center staff and outreach clients.
Seeks out and participates in continuing education, professional meetings and other activities designed to improve or enhance management and technical knowledge and skills.
Participates in committees or special projects as needed.Take weekly call to support technical specialist services (including weekends and Holiday’s as needed)
General Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in science-related field required. Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration is preferred.
Three years of clinical laboratory experience required.
Successful completion of a NAACLS or ABHES accredited clinical laboratory science program or alternate career path that meets certification eligibility requirements
Certification in one of the following: Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
