Opportunity Overview
MercyOne Northeast Iowa is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Family Medicine physician to serve as Program Director for our ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program in Waterloo, Iowa.
This well-established and highly respected program, with more than 44 years of successful training, has transitioned from a 4-4-4 model and is now a 5-5-5 residency program. Position Highlights
Lead and oversee a 5-5-5 Family Medicine Residency Program with seasoned core faculty
Provide strategic leadership for continued program development and expansion
Actively teach residents in the ambulatory clinical setting
Oversee resident education, evaluations, and performance outcomes
Inpatient medicine and OB involvement optional
Office call 1:4, supported by nurse triage
No hospital call
Lead 1–4 program-wide quality improvement projects annually
Deliver 10–12 didactic lectures per year across a variety of topics
Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary: $300,000, or commensurate with experience
$40,000 starting bonus
$40,000 longevity bonus, paid after years 2, 3 and 4
$15,000 moving allowance

Dental and vision insurance (two plans each with employer-shared premiums)
Employer-paid short-term disability; long-term disability available at minimal cost
Two retirement plans: 403(b) and 457(b)
$6,000 annual CME allowance

Candidate Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine
Minimum 3 years of clinical Family Medicine experience and/or service as core faculty in an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine residency program
Inpatient and administrative experience preferred
Must meet all pre-employment requirements, including EOE and drug screening
