Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union Infrastructure Security Administrator in Wasilla, Alaska

PURPOSE This role leads the design and execution of enterprise-wide security strategies for cloud and on-premises environments, drives adoption of Zero Trust principles ensures regulatory compliance (NCUA, NIST), and partners with leadership to shape security architecture that supports business objectives. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision to safeguard critical financial systems.

FUNCTIONS Design, implement, and maintain security controls for AWS and Azure cloud environments, including virtual machines, storage, and networking. Administer and enforce privileged access policies to secure critical systems and data, ensuring least-privilege principles are followed. Define long-term security roadmap aligned with organizational goals. Manage and monitor the credit union's SIEM platform, analyzing logs and alerts to detect and respond to security threats. Implement and manage Zero Trust security frameworks across the network and cloud environments to verify all users and devices. Manage and maintain security for Cisco network devices. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, track remediation efforts, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., NCUA, NIST). Participate in security incident response, coordinating containment and remediation activities and providing detailed reports. Influence security posture through collaboration with executives and external partners. Develop, recommend, and enforce cloud and network security policies, procedures, and best practices. Serve as a subject matter expert on all cloud and security-related matters, collaborating with IT teams and vendors to safeguard against risks. Other duties as assigned.

AUTHORITY The incumbent is authorized to take any action to carry out the responsibilities assigned by the Director of IT Operation so long as such action does not deviate from established policies and represents sound business judgment; except for specific limitations placed on the incumbents authority by specific assignments to other personnel.

PREREQUISITES FOR THE POSITION Education: Bachelors degree in information security, computer science, or a related field is required. Relevant security certifications (CISSP, CCSP, AWS/Azure, etc) are preferred. Minimum Experience: 4-10 years of progressive experience in Information Security or Information Technology, with at least 3 years focused on cloud security administration. Experience working in a financial institution, particularly a credit union, is highly desirable. Working Conditions: Full-time, on-site position. Professional office setting with a collaborative atmosphere. Occasional travel may be required for meetings with members, partners, regulatory agencies and conferences. Availability for occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary during high-priority activities, business events, or special projects. May require prolonged periods of sitting, using a computer, or attending meetings. Minimal physical exertion required but may need to lift items up to 40 pounds.
