System One Senior Video Editor - Programs (Temp) in Washington, District Of Columbia

Primary Function
The Senior Video Editor – Programs creates high‐quality programs for broadcast. Self‐motivated, able to work under pressure, and adhere to tight deadlines. The Editor maintains comprehensive knowledge of leading professional video editing applications.
Duties & Responsibilities
Craft long-form, highly professional and polished video and audio content (including recording of voice over) to air in line with international industry standards
Work in close collaboration with program producers for long form programs
Liaise with programs, archive, media management to ensure integrity of video and audio material throughout the production workflow
Quality check each edited video and audio package for visual and audio errors and rectify, pay close attention to detail to avoid on-air errors
Liaise with program editorial department to ensure subtitling for programs is accurate, visually in line with editorial and creative standards and meets network standards
Exchange video and audio files between audio and video production environments
Work with network creative to ensure programs and promotional video and audio edits meet network creative standards
Color grade final video edits to international broadcasting standards
Provide clear reports to the Supervisor Postproduction
Perform other duties as assigned across the client network
Skills & Qualifications
Willing to accept shift work in a 24/7 breaking news environment
Fluent in English. Fluency in Arabic is an advantage.
Be deadline driven; inspire and encourage others to meet challenging deadlines
A high level of interpersonal skills. An ability to lead staff, giving feedback on performance and share learning.
Able to tell stories visually through final cuts
Creativity and flexibility in applying expertise to address client issues
Highly motivated with ‘can do’ attitude
Recognize early signs of difficulty and delay and not hesitate in communicating them to the program team and management
A problem solver, able to solve problems quickly and effectively
To be able to translate user requirements into technical requirements and technical specifications
Understand the management of Media in Server based Newsroom/programs; Proficient with media and IT file structures and file formats
Proficient with editing applications like Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro
Proficient with titling and graphics tools, ability to create visual effects
Ability to color grade, audio mix and process to transmission
Knows every aspect of documentary filmmaking – Preproduction, Production and Post‐production
Knowledge of broadcast cameras and their shooting specs
Ability to learn, understand, and apply new concepts and technologies
Ability to adapt and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high‐pressure environment
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in film, media, journalism or related work experience
8+ years’ experience working as a digital video editor in a television news environment
Experience in long‐form storytelling and craft editing also preferred
