Position Overview:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Member Relations team is seeking an entrepreneurial, intellectually curious professional to help drive the growth of the Chamber’s two legal programs, the Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) and the Litigation Center.
The Chamber’s legal programs tackle some of the most consequential, precedent‑setting issues facing the American business community. Led by top litigators—many of them former Supreme Court clerks—these programs shape the legal environment in which our members operate. Our Member Relations team partners closely with these legal experts to support corporate leaders in Washington, D.C., and across the country, collaborating daily with C‑suite executives and general counsels at many of the world’s most influential companies.
We are hiring an Associate Manager to join our Legal Member Relations team. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, highly organized, and entrepreneurial, with strong time‑management, research, and writing skills. In this role, you’ll help deliver meaningful member value, generate new business interest and commitments, and support the engagement, retention, and growth of our corporate membership. You’ll work collaboratively across new business development, member engagement, research, and operations, bringing exceptional attention to detail, self‑confidence, and tenacity to everything you do.
Responsibilities:
You’ll manage a portfolio of corporate members, support ILR executives, and help drive new and existing membership growth by providing outstanding service and insight into senior business and legal leaders.
Member Portfolio and Relationship Management
Gradually assume full ownership of a designated portfolio of member accounts, serving as a primary point of contact for day-to-day needs and ongoing engagement.
Proactively engage members through regular outreach, tailored updates, and strategic touchpoints to support retention and growth.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of membership dues invoices, tracking closely to meet leadership’s deadlines.
Events and High-Level Meeting Support
Elevate member events by curating guest lists, managing and personalizing invitations, and providing on-site logistical and member support.
Participate in high-level, fast-paced meetings with Chamber executives and attorneys; capture clear notes, distill key takeaways, and identify and track follow-up actions.
Help draft persuasive internal and external communications, including follow-up emails, briefing memos, and member outreach materials.
Research, Insight, and Strategic Support
Stay current on political, legal, and corporate news and connect these developments to their implications for specific members, industries, and the Chamber’s legal priorities.
Prepare comprehensive company briefs for ILR executives by synthesizing financial data, news coverage, press releases, and corporate websites ahead of meetings with general counsels and other C-suite leaders.
Help expand new and existing initiatives, including coordinating and tracking international engagements and other strategic projects.
Executive and Team Support
Provide executive support to the Member Relations senior vice president, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and key administrative tasks.
Contribute to a collaborative team culture by supporting colleagues on cross-cutting projects and sharing information and best practices.
Take on additional responsibilities as needed to advance ILR’s and the Chamber’s broader organizational goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of relevant experience in membership, fundraising, sales support, client service, writing, or research.
Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and diplomatically with senior executives.
Demonstrated commitment to high‑touch, high‑quality client service.
Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Comfort working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with evolving priorities and ambiguity.
Understanding of, and enthusiasm for, the Chamber’s mission and its role in advancing the interests of the business community.
Genuine interest in political, legal, and public policy issues.
Strong news judgment and the ability to creatively connect the dots between headlines and their implications for specific sectors, companies, and legal issues.
Proven ability to manage a complex, fast‑changing portfolio of work and to prioritize effectively.
An entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of initiative, ownership, and follow‑through.
Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) system, preferably Salesforce.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The salary range for this position is $57,030.00 to $64,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors.
