By working closely with U.S, state and local and foreign governments and coordinating grassroots advocacy efforts, our Global Government Affairs & Environmental team represents United on regulatory, public policy and legislative issues. This team advocates every day for our airline, our employees, and the millions of customers we serve all around the globe.
Job overview and responsibilities
This position is responsible for providing administrative and customer service support across United’s Government Affairs & Global Public Policy department. Responsibilities include managing a broad array of administrative tasks for multiple teams to support various priorities and objectives. Additionally, this position manages the team’s customer service workflow and travel programs for external stakeholders.
This is an administrative and customer support position, not a junior policy position on the Government Affairs & Global Public Policy Team.
Provide confidential, high level and key administrative support
Support logistics, hospitality, daily schedule alignment in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment
Provide logistics and management support for in-person and virtual meetings and events
Screen telephone calls and visitors; manage multiple department email inboxes
Manage vendor setup and payment process and purchases and invoicing; reconcile purchase card reports
Schedule and maintain calendar of appointments, meetings, and travel itineraries for teamwide access
Other duties may include assisting in organizing briefing materials, preparing and sending correspondence and other administrative assistance to support Government Affairs as needed
Continually seek to identify and employ methods to improve existing processes to help streamline work and efficiency
Support the execution of Government Affairs and external partnerships
Provide research, analytical and management capabilities to support the successful execution of key corporate and government affairs projects
Answer and execute requests for sponsorships and/or donations
Complete vetting process for nonprofit sponsorship requests
Assist in budget administration, including follow-up/tracking of results
Provide customer service assistance to Government Affairs stakeholders, both internal and external
Manage customer service workflow for key government affairs customers traveling on United based on company policy, all applicable federal, state, and local laws, and the best interest of the customer to influence the intent to fly United again (customer interactions will vary from the routine to the highly sensitive)
Work closely with Customer Care, Reservations, local airport officials in determining appropriate action for these customer travel issues
Issue and administer travel funds (including certificates and UATP's) for external partners and vendors and assist with reservations and ticketing as needed
Support travel needs of Government Affairs & Global Public Policy team
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree
1+ years of government or business experience
Familiarity with a corporate government affairs department
Passion for excellent customer service support
Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
Comfortable operating in a dynamic, highly visible environment
Interface with all departments within the company and represent the respective leadership team in a highly professional manner
Ability to interact professionally with high-level executives on a daily basis
Complete projects assigned and demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize projects, manage workflows and meet strict deadlines with a strong attention to detail
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong Microsoft Office skills – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerPoint
Results-oriented and collaborative
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

The base pay range for this role is $66,500.00 to $86,616.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
