Architect of the Capitol Electrician Supervisor in Washington, District Of Columbia
Summary Our work inspires a nation. We are the artisans, historians, and craftspeople who preserve and maintain the landmark buildings, monuments, art and grounds of the Capitol campus. You will serve as an Electrician Supervisor located in the Architect of the Capitol, Library Buildings and Grounds, Facilities Operations Division, Maintenance Branch, Electrical Section. You will oversee the operations of the Electrical Section in support of the Library of Congress Buildings and Grounds. Responsibilities Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday, 5:00 am to 1:30 pm The incumbent is designated as an Emergency Essential Employee. You may be required to work mandatory overtime, schedule changes, and report during events, inclement weather, and emergency closures. Mandatory Weekend Coverage as RCP (responsible contact person) occurs on a scheduled, periodic, rotational basis. Alternate work Schedule (AWS) reviewed on an individual basis. Duties Include, but are not limited to: Assigns duties, evaluates performance, establishes deadlines, priorities and work sequences and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by higher level management. Oversees the requisition, procurement preparation and set-up of supplies, materials, accountable property and tools. Proficiently utilizes the agency's work order management system (i.e., Computerized Maintenance Management System [CMMS]) Observes work in progress, investigates work related problems (e.g., excessive costs, low productivity, workload imbalance and acquisition or development of specialized tools, etc.) and determines causes. Provides for employee skills enrichment through job related coaching, mentoring and training. Evaluates, adjusts and/or repairs electronic stabilizers, electronic dimmer panels, programmed transfer switches, motor control centers, modifiers, small control tool repair, minor power supply lines and circuits used to deliver a variety of power, amperage, stage and incidence requirements to delivery panels, adjustment gear, power and regulator circuits; engineering multiphase systems; thermocouple devices; electrical interference panic and fire alarm systems; crisis cautioning systems; light protection systems; high power light systems with related controls; target apparatuses; AC and DC modification systems; loudspeaker circuits; and associated electrical apparatuses. Tasks include troubleshooting electrical devices covering electronic mechanisms in order to separate the cause of the breakdown of electrical control structures, analog/digital panels and solid-state motor control circuits in apparatuses. This includes Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS); adjustable speed drives and electric motor starters for air conditioning systems; light system banks and programmed door opening systems engineering multiphase systems; switchgear, switchboards and panel boards; and related electrical equipment.
