Overview
System One is seeking a Construction Manager to support a long-term, confidential utility substation GIS project in Washington, DC. This role will provide on-site leadership and construction oversight throughout a multi-year project focused on critical infrastructure development.
The Construction Manager will coordinate closely with the client and project leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality construction execution. This position requires strong experience managing complex construction activities including civil, structural, control room, and GIS installations in a fast-paced environment.
This is a 100% onsite position supporting a project expected to run approximately three years. Candidates must be local to Washington, DC or within a reasonable commuting distance.
Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day construction oversight and coordinate activities with client representatives and S&L construction management and safety leadership.
Manage Procore-based daily logs, field documentation, and reporting to ensure accurate and timely communication with project stakeholders.
Support commercial and change-order activities by providing field input related to scope, quantities, and potential schedule impacts.
Oversee and coordinate all phases of construction including civil, structural, control room, GIS, and environmental work.
Monitor construction progress to ensure compliance with project schedules, safety requirements, and quality standards.
Maintain clear documentation and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Work collaboratively with engineering, construction, and client teams to support successful project delivery.
Requirements
Strong background in construction management within utility or infrastructure projects.
Experience overseeing construction scopes including civil, structural, control rooms, GIS installations, and environmental considerations preferred.
Proficiency using Procore or similar construction management software for documentation and reporting.
Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
Ability to manage construction activities in a confidential, fast-paced project environment.
Must be local to Washington, DC or within commuting distance.
Ability to commit to a full-time onsite schedule (40 hours per week) for the duration of the project.
