Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software. We offer a role with responsibility, independence, and the possibility to contribute proactively, while encouraging a teamwork culture with room for individual development.
The Strategic Student Program (SSP) is our formal internship program at Siemens Software globally. It is designed to help students gain meaningful, hands-on experience while contributing to real projects that create business impact. You will work alongside experienced professionals, develop technical and professional skills, and gain exposure to an international and innovative work environment.
About the Team
You will join the TestFarm team .
TestFarm is a system used by multiple teams across our organization for test management, execution, and review. The platform focuses on automated, system-level, functional, and performance testing of various types of applications, supporting both single-machine and multi-machine client-server test execution. It also supports other types of tests, such as unit tests and web application tests.
Test execution can be parallelized across any number of test machines. The system supports automatic provisioning and load balancing of test virtual machines, using any operating system across isolated team test queues, as well as installation and execution on user-maintained systems.
On the backend, the team works mainly with PHP, JavaScript / Node.js, and Python , connected to a PostgreSQL database (currently around 1 terabyte in size), with several additional terabytes stored in hash-storage. For machine management, Python is heavily used, and services also rely on Perl, Python, and Shell . The whole system can also be set up locally using Docker . The team releases enhancements frequently, sometimes multiple times per day, and receives immediate feedback from users.
