Job Description
As a Mechanical Engineer , you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality building services designs, including concept development, detailed design, specifications, and technical documentation. You will lead project teams, coordinate with multidisciplinary stakeholders, and ensure that all design activities meet technical, regulatory, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all production aspects of mechanical design projects within the office.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders — including Architects, Quantity Surveyors, and Design Consultants — to gather required information necessary for project progression.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements; prepare submissions to authorities and secure approvals as needed.
Maintain continuous communication with the Design Team, ensuring all technical information is up to date throughout the project lifecycle.
Produce complete design packages, including calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings, in line with IMS requirements and relevant industry standards and codes.
Represent AECOM in Client, Design Team, and Progress meetings during both design and construction stages.
Serve as discipline lead for Building Services projects from feasibility through operational phases.
Manage, coordinate, and support a team of engineers and specialists, contributing actively to project delivery and team development.
Prepare and deliver technical documentation, presentations, and project reports.
Manage design and construction activities, collaborating with both internal teams and external partners.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of AECOM design standards.
Deliver, review, and approve mechanical engineering calculations (e.g., HAP Carrier, IES, Bentley Building Energy Simulator).
Negotiate additional fees and manage change control processes.
Act as the primary point of contact for mechanical engineering matters within the design team.
Mentor junior staff members and promote ongoing professional development (CPD).
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and architects to support repeat business.
Support and enhance the company’s 3D and BIM capabilities.
Preferred: Experience in mechanical design for Data Center projects.
Qualifications
Specific Skills Required
Fluency in English, with strong written communication and report‑writing skills.
Good working knowledge of design‑supporting software tools.
Experience in military‑related projects is an asset.
Valid professional design license.
Category B driving license.
Minimum Requirements
Excellent technical understanding of mechanical building services across various market sectors, with a strong interdisciplinary awareness.
Proven track record in leading mechanical design teams.
Experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Building Services Engineer in a similar senior‑level role.
Strong background in mechanical engineering design, including specification writing, engineering calculations, and development of designs from first principles (air and water distribution, control systems, energy analysis).
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards; international project experience is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept design through completion while maintaining direct communication with clients.
