Job Description
Environmental Specialist II
Position Summary
This EHS Specialist II leads and assists with safety and environmental activities as they relate to compliance with Federal and State regulations and company policies.
Principle Responsibilities
Conducts safety training with employees on a variety of health and safety topics, tracks training needs, and keeps records of training compliance
Conducts periodic safety and environmental inspections of all workplace facilities, documents findings, and initiates corrective actions in partnership with area leaders
Partners with leadership to ensure company safety policies and environmental compliance are achieved
Assists with the investigation of work-related injuries and partners to identify preventative and corrective actions
Is a health and safety resource for co-workers, including dissemination of information from EH&S
Champions the Safety Committee and facilitates meetings
Assists with review, assessment, and implementation of the company’s safety and environmental programs
Leads emergency response teams as needed
Manages compliance with IDEM requirements including but not limited to air permits, DOT/Hazardous waste, water, and annual reporting
Completes JSA’s and implements change as necessary
Owns recycling program
Additional duties as requested by leadership.
Qualification Requirements
Credentials/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety or EHS, preferred
Associates Degree and 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with environmental health and safety experience
High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with environmental health and safety experience
OSHA 10, Hazwoper, and other EHS related certifications preferred, but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations
General knowledge of inspection skills and Federal, State and Local requirements.
Working knowledge of personal computer, keyboard, and various software programs.
Proficiency with the use of MS Word, and /or Excel
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Pay Range
$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 / year
