The Area HR Director provides focused HR planning and execution support for a dedicated geographic area within National Express. Key areas of accountability are HR Consulting, Human Resource Operations, Culture and Engagement, Data Analysis and oversight of talent acquisition, talent management, training and development. The position serves as a key business partner to the SVP- Field Operations and Region Managers (Ops/Maintenance/Safety)
Responsibilities:
Human Resource Consulting
Conducts weekly meetings with respective business partners, providing HR guidance and support.
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations and makes recommendations on actions.
Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs and works with our talent team on solutions.
Participates in the evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training is complete on all compliance related items.
Human Resources Operations
Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation
Works to ensure that all the Areas Net Claims are resolved and updated timely.
Ensures that all HR Compliance related items are completed in a timely manner
Culture & Engagement
Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Champions our annual employee survey to drive overall participation and action planning on results.
Owns our employee relations issues and leads positive employee relations campaigns.
Talent Management
Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development & disciplinary actions)
Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
Data Analysis
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the Operations group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required
7 or more years of professional Human Resources experience
Experience supporting multiple sites; ability to provide guidance and training from a remote location
Must be able to travel; position requires approximately 75-90% field work
Strong working knowledge of Human Resource practices and principles with significant knowledge of law and regulations affecting employment.
Effective presentation skills and the ability to assist in the development and delivery of employee or management training.
Experience responding to EEOC, Human Rights Commission, Wage & Hour and other types of employee claims.
Experience initiating and implementing Human Resource programs to achieve business objectives and ensure HR support for internal customers.
Must possess leadership and collaborative skills with demonstrated ability to build partnerships with internal and external customers
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills
Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail
Creative, innovative, and flexible mindset
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
