The Pharmacy Intern - Community Pharmacy supports an outpatient pharmacy located on the first floor of South Pointe Hospital, serving a growing community with approximately 80-100 prescriptions per day. This role assists with daily pharmacy operations, including inventory management, register support, phone communication, patient assistance, and prescription filling, while also gaining exposure to more clinical responsibilities such as prescription transfers, patient counseling, medication therapy management (MTM), immunizations, and project work. As part of a newer pharmacy, this position offers the opportunity to contribute to building and supporting a developing community-focused service in a collaborative environment.

This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will rotate through various shifts on an as needed basis. This role will require full time hours during the summer and during breaks throughout the school year in addition to as able to during the school year.

Pharmacy Hours:

Sunday: Closed

Monday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Tuesday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Wednesday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Thursday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Friday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Saturday: Closed

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug related issues.

  • Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.

  • Compound and prepare medications for delivery to patient care areas.

  • Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.

  • Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Enrollment in an accredited College of Pharmacy Program meeting education requirements to qualify for an Intern License in the State of Ohio OR international pharmacy experience meeting the requirements to qualify for the Foreign Graduate Pharmacy Intern License

  • Current State Board of Pharmacy Intern License (PH/INT) before hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Prior pharmacy experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform job while standing, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $23.00

Maximum hourly: $23.00
