OAKLAND CEMETERY Cemetery Groundskeeper Foreman in Warren, Pennsylvania

The Cemetery Groundskeeper Foreman is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of cemetery grounds. This role involves supervising a team of cemetery laborers, ensuring the cemetery is well maintained, and providing respectful service to families and visitors. The foreman ensures all tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and with the utmost care.

Lead and manage a team of cemetery laborers, assigning daily tasks and monitoring performance.

Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure compliance with safety protocols.

Train new staff on equipment use, maintenance procedures, and cemetery policies.

Oversee the upkeep of cemetery grounds, including mowing, trimming, planting, and landscaping. Ensure pathways, memorials, markers are clean, repaired, and properly aligned.

Supervise the installation of outer burial containers, foundations, and memorial markers.

Coordinate and supervise the opening and closing of graves, entombments and inurnments.

Ensure burial sites are prepared with precision and respect for families and visitors.

Assist with the layout and marking of grave sites and cemetery sections.

Provide courteous assistance to bereaved families, funeral directors and visitors.

Assist with lot purchases and guide families in selecting grave sites when required.

Maintain and repair tools, machinery, and equipment used for groundskeeping.

Ensure work areas, lunchrooms, and storage facilities and all other buildings are maintained, clean and organized.

Qualifications include:

Proven experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field, with leadership experience preferred.

Knowledge of cemetery operations (preferred not necessary), equipment and safety procedures.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to perform physical labor, including regular lifting of 50+ pounds or more, digging, and operating machinery.

Compassionate and professional demeanor when interacting with grieving families.

Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and pass a driver's license background check.

Must pass a drug screen.

Operate a backhoe, tractor, and other heavy equipment a plus.

Be able to work outdoors in all varying weather conditions.

Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects.

Occasional weekend or holiday work may be required to accommodate burial schedules.
