Job Description: The Driver's function is to operate a tractor-trailer combination to accomplish a number of duties. The first, and most common duty is the accurate delivery of products to the various restaurant customers. Drivers must also regularly position trailers at the appropriate loading dock so they can be loaded; on occasion this duty may be performed for an entire shift. To be considered for this position, applicants must possess a Class A CDL with at least two-years of previous work experience utilizing this credential.
The accurate delivery of products not only involves guiding the vehicle to the customer's location, but transfer of products from the trailer to the customer as well as invoice adjustments and signed verification from customer. This transfer is performed primarily through the use of portable roller conveyors or four-wheel carts. The conveyors are stored on the trailer and are set up at each stop to extend into the trailer. The Driver is required to manually transfer the products form the stacked pallet loads in the trailer, to the conveyor. Typically, these pallet loads can be stacked as high as 96 inches. Deliveries on carts require the driver to position full carts on the truck's liftgate, lower, and maneuver the carts into the customer's facility.
The Drivers handle empty pallets and carts on a regular basis during a delivery run. The majority of the manual handling occurs while transferring products from the trailer to the customer, where these products are stacked from 6 to 72 inches high. Pallets and carts are often stacked as high as 65 inches and weigh approximately 65 pounds.
Summary: The Driver is required to not only meet the physical demands of manually handling the products, but also the mental demands of keeping are required to fill out the necessary paperwork associated with the Driver position. The driver will have frequent interaction with customer representatives and must have experience interfacing in a highly professional way with customers. Further, the Driver's are required to work at a scheduled pace as defined by management and/or the scheduling system.
Work Schedule: May be any day of the week with varying hours around the clock, however never exceeding more than 60 hours in a 7-day period.
