Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

The General Production Worker operates automated conveyor lines and testing equipment to build and assemble high-quality pumps. This role follows detailed work instructions, supports material flow within the cell, and helps maintain consistent production output while meeting strict quality and safety standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all parts of the automated conveyor line and testing equipment in accordance with work instructions to assemble quality pumps.

  • Follow standardized work procedures to ensure consistent and accurate assembly of components.

  • Learn and apply gauging techniques to measure and verify products as required.

  • Move materials and parts within the cell work area to support continuous production flow.

  • Replenish stock and components at the workstation to prevent production delays.

  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and equipment documentation as required.

  • Review and understand quality alerts, and promptly report quality issues to the team lead.

  • Repair defective or rejected production parts on a daily basis following established guidelines.

  • Analyze defects, identify potential root causes, and support corrective action programs.

  • Perform visual and manual inspections to ensure products meet specifications before shipment.

  • Handle pumps and related components safely, including lifting and stacking products for shipping.

  • Work scheduled shifts and be available to work up to 7 days per week as required by production demands.

  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment.

  • Collaborate with team members and leads to meet production targets and quality goals.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with plant standards.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of recent experience in a manufacturing environment in a production worker, machine operator, or assembler role.

  • Demonstrated assembly experience in a manufacturing setting.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly to move and stack pumps for shipping.

  • Experience working with production, general labor, machine operation, inspection, or assembly tasks.

  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude to work around hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical equipment, welding, hand tools, and assembly machinery.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and quality issues.

  • Reliable work history with good tenure in previous positions.

  • Willingness and ability to work 7 days a week when required.

  • Ability to work any assigned shift within the posted schedules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Gauge experience for measuring and verifying product specifications.

  • Familiarity with automated conveyor systems and testing equipment.

  • Experience documenting production and quality data.

  • Comfort working with various manufacturing machines such as hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical equipment, welding tools, and hand tools.

  • Ability to participate in and support corrective action and continuous improvement activities.

  • Strong communication skills to report issues and collaborate with team leads and coworkers.

Work Environment

The role is based in a newly renovated manufacturing plant in Warren that produces pump, valvetrain, transmission, and electric drive components and systems for major automotive customers. The facility houses various types of equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical machinery, welding equipment, hand tools, and automated conveyor and testing lines. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. Personal protective equipment such as steel toe footwear, safety glasses, ear plugs, and gloves is required and provided or supported through an allowance. The position operates on multiple shift options, including 8-hour and 10-hour schedules. For 8-hour shifts, typical schedules include 1st shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and 3rd shift from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM. For 10-hour shifts, typical schedules include 1st shift from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM. Candidates must be able to work up to 7 days per week based on production needs, reflecting a high-demand, high-output manufacturing environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.50/hr.
