Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Waltham, Massachusetts
Description We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to join a team on a long-term contract basis. This role is well suited for an accounting specialist who brings strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The position will support core accounting operations, maintain financial accuracy, and partner with stakeholders to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
Responsibilities:
• Lead key activities related to the monthly close process, ensuring financial results are recorded accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining proper supporting documentation and adherence to accounting standards.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash-related transactions to support accurate financial reporting.
• Review accounting records and internal processes to help maintain strong controls and reliable financial data.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and management to address requests, explain financial results, and support business decisions.
• Prioritize multiple deliverables simultaneously while producing precise work within tight reporting deadlines.
• Contribute to accounting projects and process-related initiatives as needed, including activities tied to operational or system-related changes when applicable. Requirements
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Accounting or Finance
3–5+ years of accounting experience (corporate, public, or both)
Accounting certification preferred
Strong U.S. GAAP and month-end close knowledge
Experience with journal entries and reconciliations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Effective communication, including with non-finance stakeholders
Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
