The Lab Resource Coordinator is a key member of the laboratory operations team and serves as the primary liaison between scientists and lab operations. This role ensures laboratories run efficiently, safely, and with the resources needed to support research activities.
You will support scientific teams by coordinating lab operations, managing supplies and equipment, maintaining compliance, and assisting with general laboratory needs.
Terms: Contract (3-4 months) with possibility of extension
Schedule: 7am-4pm or 9am-5pmMonday-Friday, with possibility of Saturday’s for OT
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations Support
Serve as the primary point of contact for scientific teams regarding daily lab operational needs
Provide operational support to ensure efficient and organized laboratory workflows
Assist research teams with general laboratory coordination and troubleshooting
Inventory & Supply Management
Maintain accurate inventory of lab supplies and equipment
Coordinate with Avantor service teams for consumables, solvents, media, and buffers
Manage common stock items and optimize storage utilization
Cold Storage Management
Organize and maintain cold storage units, including refrigerators, -80°C freezers, and cryogenic storage
Ensure proper sample organization and storage compliance
Equipment & Instrument Support
Coordinate with Lab Instrument Services (LIST) for equipment tagging, calibration, and maintenance
Submit and track equipment maintenance requests
Provide routine instrument support such as:
Monitoring solvent/buffer levels
Instrument startup
Calibration checks
Waste handling
Facility & Lab Space Maintenance
Assist with maintenance and organization of shared lab areas
Submit and monitor facility work orders
Support lab space optimization and decluttering initiatives
Safety & Compliance
Participate in safety committee activities and lab walkthroughs
Ensure adherence to lab safety protocols and regulatory standards
Assist with safety training for new employees
Training & Onboarding
Provide general lab orientation and equipment training for new hires
Support the lab coat program, including ordering, stocking, and vendor coordination
Communication & Collaboration
Attend departmental meetings and ensure effective communication between:
Scientific teams
Laboratory operations
Support service groups
General Laboratory Support
Perform basic lab tasks as directed by scientific team leads within the scope of the role
Provide ongoing support to maintain smooth day-to-day lab operations
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred
1–2 years of laboratory experience preferred (undergraduate lab experience will be considered)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
COVID-19 vaccination required
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively
Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and verbal)
Basic laboratory knowledge including use of scientific instruments and testing equipment
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Ability to follow site protocols, safety policies, and operational procedures
Must meet all background check, safety, and security clearance requirements
