Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Director, Communications, to develop a comprehensive communications strategy that supports our enterprise AI initiatives and IT & Digital function.
You are a passionate and innovative leader who will develop and lead an integrated internal and external communications strategy to effectively communicate across our stakeholders, including colleagues, customers and the community. You will plan, develop and implement company-wide communication programs in partnership with our Communications colleagues, while serving as a trusted advisor to leaders across the company.

As a leader of emerging talent, you should be an experienced people leader who can motivate, inspire and influence across groups.
How you will make an impact:
Lead strategic, impactful and measurable communications that advance business goals and reputation
Drives the strategic narrative for top executives, including the Chief Information Officer, crafting messaging that align with company goals while maintaining an authentic leadership voice
In partnership with stakeholders across the company, develop enterprise-wide narratives on high-impact priorities, including AI, advancing understanding and ensuring Thermo Fisher defines and leads the conversation
Anticipate challenges, provide counsel, and resolve issues for senior executives
Define the channels and format of key stakeholder communications
Reduce complex content and analysis into simple, compelling storylines for employees at all levels in the organization
Lead a team of communicators, guiding their development to cultivate future talent
What you will do:
Development and delivery of a company-wide internal communication strategy inclusive of global engagement campaigns and ongoing awareness and education of company programs and initiatives
Advancement of a values-based culture that attracts and retains top talent and inspires employees to become brand ambassadors
In a highly matrixed environment, drive collaboration between enterprise and business communications, to ensure alignment in messaging and delivery for maximum impact
Lead a team of dedicated individuals, advancing their development and contributing to the overall communication team as we build a world-class function
Create awareness, excitement, and understanding of business topics, new programs and/or processes
Drive new approaches to deliver communications in more creative, efficient, and effective ways by challenging current processes and recommending new approaches
Develop metrics and processes that help us measure communications impact and reinforce our culture of achievement and accountability
The Director of Communications will report into the Sr. Director of Functional Communications and will work closely with Functional Communications and Business Communication colleagues to ensure that proactive work is aligned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or English
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years' experience in external and internal communications with a blend of public relations, internal communications, social media, employee communications, and marketing communications experience
Extensive experience in external and internal communications with a blend of public relations, internal communications, social media, employee communications and marketing communications experience
Variety of relevant business experience which should demonstrate the ability to quickly study a business, understand the value-enablers, and relate to bottom-line impact, executive presence
Experience in working in a heavily matrixed work environment
Hiring, mentoring and developing teams
Proven success in external and internal communication strategies across media and public relations, social media and employee engagement
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to influence business partners and facilitate collaboration and alignment between business and corporate objectives
Sound problem solving skills, e.g., ability to objectively analyze current practices, identify root cause problems and improvement opportunities, formulate a range of achievable options, outline relative strengths, build consensus for a preferred solution
Bottom-line results-oriented, e.g., financial and general business acumen, focused on operational and process improvement to work efficiently
Effective communication skills, e.g., collaborative open style, working in teams, strong written and oral communicator, strategic thinker with ability to execute plans, calm under fire, go-to person
Strategic in a practical way, e.g., understand emerging communication trends and ability to extrapolate them to practical business applications
Proven skills in MS Office tools, especially PowerPoint. MS SharePoint content creation/experience a strong plus
Demonstrates key characteristics of a world-class communication function including trust, focus, empowerment, accountability and ownership and operating with a 'one team' mentality

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $160,100.00–$200,000.00.
